Join us during Summer McCall’s Folkist Space residency for a social dancing house party and artist Q&A session!
On March 28th at 7PM, Summer joins us to teach a couple of the social dances she’ll be learning during her residency. Attendees will be taught a couple of simple group dances to live fiddle tunes in the living room at Folkist Space. This short workshop is beginner-friendly, and will be paired with an artist Q&A chat and time to meet the artist over refreshments.
With limited tickets available first to KAC members and Folkist Space newsletter subscribers, these nights are intimate gatherings of about 20 folks. If you claim a ticket and can’t attend, we hope you’ll let us know or share it with a friend!
About the artist
Summer is a vibrant force in the Celtic arts. She is a booking agent with FLi Artists, a multi-festival director (including the Boston Celtic Music Festival and founder of the Carolina Celtic Music Festival), a ceilidh dance caller, and a Celtic fiddler/cellist. Her naturally extroverted and effervescent energy has connected her with a global network of Celtic and Folk artists. Raised in the traditional Scottish music and dance community of Northern California’s Sierra Nevada foothills, Summer now calls Boston home (when she isn’t on the road performing or producing Celtic events). For more than 20 years, her passion and dedication have centered on sustaining and celebrating traditional Celtic music and culture.
About our IN RESIDENCE Nights
”In residence” nights at Folkist Space are part of our mission to restore the arts to their natural habitat— our kitchens, living rooms, and local neighborhoods. A cross between an artist performance and a house party, each “In Residence” night invites a Folkist Space artist resident to share a peek behind the scenes into their art practice. Immersive art sharing is followed by refreshments and a chance to meet & mingle with neighbors and our resident artist.
SUPPORT THE ARTISTS!
We keep ticket prices low to keep these intimate events accessible, but they only cover the cost of refreshments. Our artist residents are generously donating their time, and we will have a cash donation jar and a QR code at all IN RESIDENCE events. We ask that attendees offer an at-will donation to the artist of any amount they can afford— 100% of proceeds from these events goes directly to our artist residents.
